About Me

Hello! I’m Kristina, but I often go by my handle when online: AmberJackalope. I am a native north Texan, who dreams about moving somewhere mountainous and cold. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, and find joy in doing any sort of creative work with my hands (including woodworking, taxidermy, gardening, needlework, sewing, and much more). I was unable to afford art school, where my dream was to major in illustration. Instead, I leaned into my fascination with sciences, and received by BSN in nursing. I have worked in step-down ICU settings my entire nursing career.
I have two dogs (Granola and Tofu), two cats (Finch and Raven), and one husband. In my free time, I work on creative projects, play video games, or work on the house outside. I also love to travel, and am extremely fortunate to be able to do so.
Why “AmberJackalope”?
I love mythology and fantasy. I love weird creatures that sometimes don’t make sense, and the concept of forces that humans don’t fully understand. Growing up, I was usually found drawing dragons during classes. I still love dragons, but as I got older and wanted to make a specific name for myself, I started looking deeper into what other creatures I could resonate with. Over time, I developed an affection for jackalopes. Bunnies are already super cute, but add some antlers and they become whimsical. A jackalope was my first tattoo, far before I started using the handle.
